Manchester United ‘are interested in’ a deal for Fiorentina midfielder Sofian Amrabat, but he is waiting for a proposal from Barcelona.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say the Moroccan ‘won’t give up’ on a move to the Camp Nou this summer and is confident a bid will arrive for him.
The newspaper reports that Amrabat maintains his status as a top player with a big market this summer after his impressive performances for his country at the World Cup in Qatar.
Barcelona had him in their sights to fill a gap in their midfield in the January transfer window but didn’t push for a move and instead ‘Manchester United are now interested in signing him’.
They, though, are yet to move for the midfielder as they are currently fully invested in signing Oriol Romeu as a replacement for Sergio Busquets.
That could give Manchester United their opportunity to move for the player, who Fiorentina are happy to sell if they receive the right offer.
That has been hinted at by CEO Joe Barone, who is quoted as saying “we have not received any offer or proposal for him. If an offer for him were to come in, we would study it carefully.”
All it seems Manchester United have to do is make their move and present an offer, something they are yet to do but would be wise to do so sooner rather than later if their interest is genuine.
