Manchester United’s interest in Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies is ‘becoming more concrete’ as he gears up to become a free agent next summer.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who reports that Manchester United have been gathering ‘extensive information’ on the left-back for several days.
They 23-year-old is seen as an ideal addition to full the currently vacant left-back position at the club. An informal inquiry has already been made with the player’s camp in recent months.
At the moment, Davies is not holding talks with Bayern Munich about a contract extension. His current deal expires next summer.
That means he will be free to talk with clubs about a pre-contract agreement from 1 January and it seems Manchester United are positioning themselves to be one of them.
The left-back position has been a problem one for the club for a while, with Diogo Dalot currently filling in as Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia battle to get fit.
Many were surprised they did not move to add a player in the position in the summer transfer window, but it appears their eyes may now be on Davies and a potential free transfer next summer.
Sky Germany add that Real Madrid are also interested and they currently have better prospects than Manchester United in any potential battle.
