Manchester United have recently ‘intensified contact’ for Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong, but a transfer decision is yet to be made on him.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say Manchester United and several other suitors have increased their efforts to get the Dutch full-back.
Frimpong is one of the undisputed stars of the Bayer Leverkusen side that have romped to the Bundesliga title this season, as well as reaching the Europa League semi-finals and the final of the German cup.
He’s continued his impressive rise under the guidance of Xabi Alonso, under whom he’s managed 20 goals and 20 assists in 76 games so far.
That has naturally not gone unnoticed, and he’s continued to be linked with a move away from the club, with the Premier League particularly keen.
SportBILD back that up, saying Manchester United are one of the sides in England to have ‘intensified contact’ for the defender in recent weeks.
They explain that his release clause, valued at €40m, expires before the start of Euro 2024 so a decision needs to be made by that point. None of the suitors have ‘made a transfer decision’ at this point, though.
Leverkusen would like to know what’s happening as their plans will be changed if Frimpong is to depart.
They’re seemingly waiting for his suitors to make their minds up, and potentially hoping that they all deliberate long enough to allow that release clause to expire.
