Atlético Madrid ‘remain firm’ with Manchester United, insisting that Kieran Trippier will not be sold this summer.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who provide an update on the defender today as he continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Trippier has been linked with Manchester United for several months, with it believed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are looking for an alternative to Aaron Wan Bissaka at right-back.
Trippier is someone they’ve liked for a while and his impressive displays in Spain last year coupled with his performances for England mean he has been linked heavily once again.
They know Trippier is an ‘issue’ that needs solving, not because they want to get rid but because of the ‘insistent interest’ from Manchester United.
That has given the full-back ‘doubts’, and while he is happy in Spain, the idea of returning to England is ‘interesting’ to him, particularly as it would allow him to be close to his family after two years in Spain.
That is where his ‘doubts’ are coming from, but those in charge are clear in their thoughts; they are not going to change their plans for him.
That’s backed up by AS, who say that Trippier has been defined as ‘untransferable’ for the club this summer.
At the minute, there is not a pressing problem anyway as Manchester United have not made a solid bid, and if they do want him, they will have to offer €30m plus to convince Atlético.
They paid €24m to sign him from Tottenham two years ago, and in that time he’s undoubtedly increased in value under Diego Simeone, meaning the Spanish side are not going to let him go on the cheap.
