On Thursday, Doble Amarilla repored Manchester United have made first formal contact with Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez’s agent over a move. They also reported his family wants to stay in the UK, which is why he’s favouring the Red Devils.

The Argentine media continue to push the 32-year-old towards Old Trafford, with Olé now covering the latest.

Olé is the country’s main sports newspaper, and they state the stopper is ‘not averse’ to leaving Aston Villa for Manchester United in this window, who have ‘launched a bid’ for his signing. That sounds like it refers more to an attempt than an offer.

There’s been claims of Galatasaray, Barcelona and Atlético Madrid interest in Martínez, but the report states Ruben Amorim’s side are the only club to have made progress.

Manchester United are the first club to officially contact with Aston Villa, according to Olé, and they contact the Birmingham club to find out the terms.

Olé report talks initiating doesn’t necessarily mean an agreement will be found.

Claims from the UK have stated the World Cup winner’s asking price is around €40m. Olé relay that and adds that would be the maximum Manchester United are willing to offer to Aston Villa.

Again, this all feels like it’s being pushed from Martínez’s camp, with perhaps them chasing a Manchester United move more than the Red Devils are truly chasing the player right now.
