Are you a footballer who has played for Ajax in recent years who hasn’t been linked to Manchester United? Get yourself a new agent.
Even before Erik ten Hag was officially the new manager at Old Trafford, players at Ajax or with an Ajax past were being linked with the Premier League club.
Transfer business done since he took over, and attempts for players such as Antony, have only encouraged the idea that the Dutchman wants a specific way of playing and believes certain players have the experience to carry it out.
Wednesday’s edition of Sport claims Manchester United have made contact over signing Sergino Dest, the Barcelona player. The 21-year-old moved to the Camp Nou from Ajax in 2020, and last season he played 31 matches for the club.
He can operate as a fullback on either side and also further forward so would be a versatile addition for Ten Hag’s squad.
Dest has been edged towards the exit repeatedly by the Catalan media, and Sport say the club would be looking for a minimum of €20m to part ways with him this summer.
