Wednesday’s edition of Sport has another big article on Barcelona working to sign Bernardo Silva from Manchester City.

According to the Catalan newspaper the Portugal international is ‘getting closer’ to moving to the Camp Nou, and there’s now ‘optimism’ that the move can happen.

Barcelona’s economic levers, which are basically loans secured on future income repackaged to sound like financial genius rather than recklessness, have enabled them to bring in a chunk of money this summer and carry signings that few thought possible.

Sport say Bernardo Silva would fall into that group, and there’s again insistence that Barcelona would have the will of the Manchester City star. They believe they can carry out the signing and there’s a rush to get it done before the start of La Liga.

Despite all of that there’s no mention of what transfer fee would be required, and it’s again explained that Frenkie de Jong would need to leave before Bernardo Silva could arrive.

That’s a lot of work to do before Barcelona play their first game on August 13th.
