Manchester United’s chase for Benfica defender Antonio Silva gets an interesting update from the Portuguese media today.
Following recent reports from England saying the Red Devils recently scouted the centre-back, newspaper O Jogo comes up to say that Erik ten Hag’s side already ‘know everything’ about him.
It’s said Manchester United watched Silva in ‘many contests’ for club and country, and have now been in contact with Gestifute, the agency who represents him.
The Red Devils are thought to be preparing an offer to sign the defender in the summer, as they’re happy with the information they got when scouting him.
It isn’t detailed how much Manchester United would put on the table, although Benfica have him protected by a €100m release clause.
The good news is that among the two young stars the Eagles have, Silva and João Neves, they’d rather let go of the centre-back at this stage.
According to O Jogo, Manchester United have their defensive sector as their priority to reinforce next summer. The Benfica player is the one getting special attention, while Giorgio Svalcini and Jarrad Branthwaite come right after him.
