For many months now, the Italian press has presented Manchester United as a potential destination for Atalanta’s Ederson.
Some days ago, it was reported that the Red Devils watched the midfielder closely in the Italian side’s Serie A game against AC Milan and were left impressed.
The rumour continues to be pushed and TuttoSport today have reported an update about Ederson’s situation.
They state that while Juventus see the Brazilian as a replacement for Douglas Luiz, Manchester United are not backing away at all and have increased contact for him ‘in past few hours’.
This is a threat to Juve, who had attempted to land Ederson in the January transfer window but failed in their move.
Manchester United are said to be willing to pay between €55m and €60m to sign the 25-year-old. The Bianconeri will struggle to pay that much, even if they make it to the Champions League.
The Italian giants have done some groundwork on a potential deal already but now face a major risk of missing out, with Ruben Amorim’s side clearly presented as a leading candidate.
