Manchester United have now signed their part of the agreement that will take Mason Greenwood to Fenerbahçe and secure them a percentage of the transfer fee.

Journalist Erdem Akbaş reports that Fenerbahçe are currently waiting on Marseille to sign their part of the agreement so that the 24-year-old’s move to Türkiye can be completed.

Akbaş first reported earlier today that as of last night, agreements had been reached with all the parties involved, except Marseille, for Mason Greenwood’s move to the country.

Even though common ground had been found with the French side on the matter, no signatures had been provided as yet. The transfer was therefore pending until that happened. Fenerbahçe, for their part, have put a deadline of July 17th for the transfer to be completed.

Akbaş then followed that up with a new report explaining that the ‘five-legged’ operation was in the final stages. The five legs are Manchester United, Marseille, Getafe, Fenerbahçe and Mason Greenwood.

Of those five parties, only Marseille’s signature is missing on the paperwork. Manchester United have signed their part and are simply waiting for the deal to be finalised.

United have a vested interest in the matter as they hold a sell-on clause for their former academy product. He left the club for Getafe in September 2023 but and later joined Marseille in July 2024. But reports in England have stated they hold a clause worth up to 40% on the 24-year-old.

With reports in Türkiye indicating the deal taking the forward is worth €40-50m, they stand to make a big profit. A deal worth €40m would see them pocket around €16m. At the higher €50m, it’s a €20m boost to their coffers this summer.

They, then, are waiting for Marseille to put their signature on the final paperwork. At that point, the deal can be completed, and everyone can walk away happy.
