Manchester United are continuing to monitor Sporting Club de Portugal defender Gonçalo Inácio as a potential battle for his signature in the Premier League develops.
That’s according to Leonino and Record, who both have Manchester United in the picture for the 22-year-old today.
The former reports on how Sporting are planning to replace Inácio with youngster João Muniz as the ‘harassment’ from Real Madrid and Manchester United for Inácio is not ending any time soon.
Those in charge at the club are planning ahead should Inácio depart and plan to put their faith in Muniz should he do so either in January or the summer.
They’re already putting plans in place to promote Muniz and put their faith in him, seemingly on the basis that they think Inácio could be on his way.
Record, meanwhile, throw Manchester United into the mix as part of an article discussing how Liverpool had a scout in attendance to watch the central defender this week.
The Reds have been collecting information on Inácio for months but are not the only ones to do so as he is ‘still on the agenda’ at Newcastle and Manchester United as they are looking for reinforcements themselves.
Sporting are aware of this and have made it clear, particularly in comments from manager Rúben Amorim, that he will not be allowed to depart unless his release clause is paid.
Whether Manchester United are willing to do that is unknown but their interest, which by this point is a long-standing one to say the least, is not going away.
