Manchester United had scouts in attendance at Sporting Club de Portugal’s clash with Vizela last night to watch defender Gonçalo Inácio in action.
That’s according to O Jogo, who say Manchester United have been watching the 21-year-old ‘for a long time’.
The newspaper explains that there were several scouts from European clubs at the game last night, which saw Sporting run out 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Inácio and Ivanildo Fernandes.
Inácio is certainly one such player and Manchester United are said to have been watching him ‘for a long time’ ahead of a possible move.
Whether this is the last scouting trip before a move this summer or just the latest in a series isn’t mentioned, but with United seemingly wrapping up a deal for Napoli’s Kim Min-jae it would be odd for them to also be splashing the cash on Inácio.
With Champions League football now secured, though, perhaps Erik ten Hag is planning a complete defensive overhaul and Inácio is on his list. Either way, United had people in the stands on Friday to watch him put in his latest impressive display.
