Manchester United are in the picture to sign Girona’s Miguel Gutiérrez, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The left-back has starred for the La Liga side this season, scoring a goal and registering six assists from 30 games. The Red Devils have taken notice of his fine displays.
It’s claimed the 22-year-old is ‘back in the spotlight’ as Manchester United have been following him ‘for months’.
The report further adds the Red Devils aren’t the only Premier League side to have shown interest, but there’s no details of the other clubs.
Girona signed Gutiérrez from Real Madrid in 2022 and the latter have a buyback option set at €8m.
Mundo had earlier stated that Los Blancos will bring the Spaniard back to the club and Carlo Ancelotti will then make a decision on whether or not to keep him in the squad.
Real Madrid are reportedly keen on signing Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies and that will reduce Gutiérrez’s chances of featuring regularly if he returns to his old club. His deal at Girona lasts until 2027 and Transfermarkt value him at €20m.
Manchester United’s interest in the player isn’t new as back in September 2022, the fullback revealed he had been close to joining the Red Devils. It needs to be seen whether the Premier League side will make another attempt to sign him in the summer.
