Manchester United’s Hannibal Mejbri joined Sevilla on a loan deal in January, after struggling for regular game time at Old Trafford in the first half of the season.
ABC Sevilla state the Manchester United owned player hasn’t kicked off yet at the La Liga side as he’s been restricted to 36 minutes from three games so far.
The report provides a background into how Sevilla were able to get ahead of other clubs in the race to sign him.
It’s said the deal wasn’t easy and the Spanish club were involved in intense negotiations with Manchester United to find an agreement.
ABC Sevilla say Manchester United have ‘very high’ expectations from him for the future. Therefore, the Red Devils didn’t contemplate the 21-year-old’s sale and were only looking for a club where he can make progress in his development.
However, the Tunisia international has been overlooked by Quique Sánchez Flores so far and the manager will have to find a way to fit him in his plans.
The newspaper says Hannibal’s quality is ‘beyond doubt’, but there are other Sevilla players currently ahead of him in the pecking order.
It’s worth noting Sevilla have an option to buy the Tunisian, something that ABC Sevilla may have not taken into account, when presenting the Red Devils’ expectations.
However, given Sevilla almost always ignore those options – having no intention of paying pre-agreed fees – that’s likely where ABC are coming from.
