Manchester United are considering dropping Antony from their squad, according to claims from Brazil.
UOL journalist Rafael Reis features a story claiming the Red Devils are currently analysing the situation.
Antony was removed from the national team squad on Monday due to the allegations made by his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin, who this week went public with more interviews about her claims of abuse.
Reis writes that following the decision from the CBF, Manchester United ‘decided to change behaviour’ and now consider leaving him out of the squad. It’s claimed that the expectation is that the club follow the same line as with Mason Greenwood, which would presumably be a suspension whilst the club investigate.
Earlier on Tuesday, Cavallin’s lawyer Vanessa Souza spoke to UOL about the recent events. According to her, the Greater Manchester Police are already on the case and got in touch with Manchester United about the allegations.
“Yesterday, I was contacted by the police, they asked for all of Antony’s details, they also informed me that they have already contacted Manchester United’s compliance department. Also from the noise of the press, who are at the club’s door, I believe that yes, they will meet and take a position as soon as possible.”
Despite everything that has been going on, Antony was today named in Manchester United’s squad which will be playing the Champions League. We now shall see how long it will take until the club take a position on this case.
