As has been reported elsewhere so far, Manchester United are keeping an eye on Cody Gakpo, as Erik ten Hag continues to seek reinforcements at Old Trafford.
As well as a new midfielder, which appears to be Adrien Rabiot, the Dutchman wants more attacking options in his squad, which the forward would provide.
Previously linked with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, the forward, who can play up front or off the wing, would certainly be a versatile option for Manchester United.
He excelled last season, but the current campaign hasn’t been great for him so far, as he was panned for his performances against AS Monaco in the Champions League qualifiers.
The newspaper have an article stating the Red Devils are ‘considering’ a move for the forward, but ‘have not yet made an official offer’.
Gakpo is himself ‘open to a step abroad’, but is also fine with staying at PSV Eindhoven for longer, even if ‘he still has not made a choice’ regarding his future.
It’s said the Eredivisie side are expecting a sale ‘for an amount of €45-50m, but additional clauses will also have to be agreed so that the amount can be increased’.
That’s a lot for a player, regardless of how well he played last year, and it’s certainly something Manchester United will have to think about before making any sort of move for the player.
