Manchester United are in the picture to sign Columbus Crew goalkeeper Patrick Schulte, according to a fresh report.
The American international has kept 11 clean sheets and conceded 56 goals from 43 games since joining the MLS side in 2022. His performances have apparently caught the attention of the Red Devils.
That’s at least what Transfermarkt are reporting, and add that Manchester United have been ‘closely following’ the 23-year-old.
In Erik ten Hag’s second summer window, the Premier League side signed two goalkeepers, André Onana and Altay Bayındır. The Turkey international has been restricted to only one appearance this season and that was because Onana was with Cameroon at AFCON.
It’s claimed Bayındır could leave after this season in search of more game time. Therefore, the Premier League side are looking at options in the market and Schulte has been included in the list.
Last summer, Chelsea signed Đorđe Petrović from New England Revolution for €14m, a year after paying €9m to Chicago Fire for Gabriel Slonina. According to Transfermarkt, Columbus Crew will use these two deals to determine Schulte’s price.
The American’s contract lasts until the end of this year, with an option for another year, and the report makes no mention of the fee needed to convince Columbus Crew to sanction his sale.
