For reasons which are unclear for now, for the past week or so Sport have been trying to build transfer rumours around Ansu Fati.
The Catalan newspaper initially dragged Manchester United into the picture, and then Bayern Munich were mentioned… only for media close to the German club to dismiss that claim.
Tuesday’s edition of Sport has Ansu Fati on page 15, and the gist of the story is that he can only leave Barcelona if he asks for a transfer.
Sport explain the ‘perfect storm’ is developing for the player’s exit. He isn’t getting enough minutes, and the Blaugrana need a big sale in the summer. Someone is clearly pushing these claims to the Catalan newspaper, and it’s unclear whether that’s the player’s camp or his club.
There’s a suggestion Ansu Fati could be this summer’s Frenkie de Jong, which would point the finger of responsibility for this rumour towards the Camp Nou.
According to the report, Manchester United can ‘put a lot of money on the table’ for the attacker. Whether they will or not is the much bigger question, as right now this seems like a situation ongoing between Barcelona and Ansu Fati, with other clubs perhaps used for drama.
