Inter Milan are waiting for Manchester United to make their official bid for Andre Onana, but there is a belief that ‘could be postponed’ to next week.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say the latest talks between the separate parties have led to a belief Manchester United may hold out before making their first bid for the goalkeeper.
They explain that while selling Onana is ‘fundamental’ for Inter so they can do their own business this summer, it must be done at the right price
They had imagined they could do a deal with worth €40m and that would be enough but Inter responded quickly to that and made it clear that they wouldn’t even sit at the table for that figure.
That is why they are confident that Manchester United’s first bid will actually be in the €50m region and they can ‘think and work’ at that figure as bonuses can be added on.
Both clubs are certainly on the road to reaching an agreement, particularly with David De Gea’s contract officially ending yesterday.
Erik ten Hag has been ‘promised’ that United will sign Onana, who was his goalkeeper during his time in charge of Ajax, and there is a willingness to get the deal done.
As usual, though, it’s all about money and unless they can offer Inter a deal that they find suitable, it won’t be happening.
