Manchester United are closely monitoring the situation around Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee once again as a potential move to AC Milan stumbles.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who reports that Manchester United are still considering the Dutch striker as they look to bolster their forward line.
He reports that Zirkzee remains one of the ‘desired targets’ for Manchester United this summer, despite reports of the Bologna striker closing in on a move to AC Milan.
United are well aware of those claims but know the high commissions and fees demanded as part of that deal are complicating matters for AC Milan. They are currently unable or unwilling to move at the figures they’ve been quoted.
Manchester United have been informed about this and are now closely monitoring the situation around the striker once again.
The big question is whether they’d be willing to pay the fees that AC Milan are currently resistant to paying, but given it’s been well recorded that finances are tight at Old Trafford and INEOS are keen to avoid overpaying, it’s questionable.
Plettenberg, though, insists they are back in the race and monitoring matters as AC Milan fail to push a deal over the line.
