It seems Diogo Costa’s new contract with FC Porto may not stop Manchester United from continuing to follow him.
Newspaper A Bola today features a piece about the goalkeeper returning to the stadium where he made his league debut, as 50 appearances later he’s been standing out even in the Champions League, and about to go to the World Cup with Portugal’s squad.
Costa had been linked to a few clubs in the past few months, including Manchester United, and those rumours slowed down once he agreed to a new deal with Porto, now protected until 2027 with a €75m release clause.
A Bola, however, point out that the player remains in the ‘lake of sharks’, as he ‘continues to be on the radar’ of European giants.
Manchester United and Barcelona are labelled as two sides who are ‘attentive to the evolution’ of the Porto star, with the Champions League being the big stage where he’s been drawing attention.
It’s said his skill at saving penalties is one more reason why there’s such interest in him, but it’s really his overall quality which will make his price so high.
