Arsenal and Manchester United are leading the race for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee as he continues to impress with the Italian side.
That’s according to Corriere di Bologna, who cover the player’s return to the side today and how his performances are being closely monitored by the Premier League duo.
They explain that Zirkzee is being courted around Europe by some of the biggest names in the game and when it comes to foreign clubs ‘above all Manchester United and Arsenal’.
Bologna are not particularly concerned about the interest at this moment in time as they have ‘more bargaining power’ because of their agreement with Bayern Munich for the striker.
They agreed a €40m buy-back with the German side and a significant percentage of a future resale for them too and so will, presumably, negotiate upwards to ensure they get as much as possible from a sale.
Neither Arsenal or Manchester United appear to have made their move as yet but the interest is there and something everyone is aware of.
For now, Zirkzee and Bologna are simply focused on continuing their excellent campaign, which has seen him score seven and assist two in 19 games in Serie A so far and earn himself plenty of admirers.
It’s surely those numbers, and not the two he managed last season, which has led to interest in him so far and Arsenal and Manchester United are said to be keeping an eye on him ahead of what may be a busy summer.
