Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are in the picture to sign RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons this summer.

That’s according to Friday’s edition of Sport, and they report the Bundesliga winners have explored the possibility of securing his services. Both Manchester United and Chelsea have held meetings with Simon’s entourage to discuss a potential move.

The newspaper adds the attacking midfielder’s desire is to leave Leipzig in this window. The Premier League duo or Bayern could help him fulfil that, but an exit doesn’t seem to be imminent.

According to Sport, the Netherlands international’s high price is holding back Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

The figure isn’t quoted, but Sport mention it in another report, focusing on the possibility of Simons returning to Barcelona. It’s claimed he’s determined to leave the German club, and his camp are in contact with several European clubs, including the La Liga winners.

Agent Ali Barat doesn’t represent the 22-year-old, but he, along with his brother, had a meeting with Barca sporting director Deco on Thursday.

Hansi Flick has the attacking midfield position covered and Sport adds Simons’ €70m price is unaffordable for Barca. Therefore, they aren’t considering signing him in this window.

Manchester United have signed Matheus Cunha and are working on a deal for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo. Chelsea also have a wealth of attackers, and it’s unlikely the Premier League duo could consider making an offer for the Dutchman.
