On Thursday, journalist Christian Martin reported Manchester United have entered the picture to sign LDU Quito’s Óscar Zambrano. He also stated that some within Old Trafford call the midfielder the ‘new Moisés Caicedo’.
Diario Olé Ecuador now claim Manchester United ‘accelerate’ their efforts to sign the 19-year-old.
Luton Town are also showing interest and have already made an advance to try to secure the player’s services. This has seen the Red Devils act and they are ‘preparing to fight’ with their Premier League counterpart.
Therefore, Erik ten Hag’s side are ‘standing shoulder to shoulder’ with Luton Town, by ‘matching the amount’, to sign the Ecuador U20 international.
According to Olé, Zambrano owns 15% of his rights and Quito would like him to give up his share, which is why the Hatters couldn’t close the deal.
Olé claim the midfielder’s future will be defined in the ‘next few hours’ and whoever wants to sign him will have to pay around $7m [€6.4m]. That timeframe is likely optimistic but this one has come from nowhere and is moving quickly.
