Manchester United signed Rasmus Højlund from Atalanta in 2023, a year before bringing in Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.

The duo have struggled to impress and Foot Mercato state Ruben Amorim has prioritised strengthening the Red Devils’ attack.

They say Manchester United have identified El Bilal Touré as a candidate for next season.

Atalanta took El Bilal Touré from UD Almería in the same window they sold Højlund to the English club. He failed to impress in his debut season and last summer, La Dea sent him on loan to VfB Stuttgart on loan with an option to buy.

The striker has managed three goals and an assist from 13 games this season and has been on the sidelines since November due to metatarsal fracture.

Foot Mercato’s title says Manchester United are ‘about to recruit’ the 23-year-old. Within the report, it’s claimed they are ‘accelerating’ to secure his services.

Stuttgart have a €18m buying option and the report says they will exercise it soon. They add Manchester United could then buy him for €25m plus bonuses in the winter market and send him back on loan to the German club.

Foot Mercato state this is a ‘meticulous operation’ from Manchester United to secure their future if Højlund or Zirkzee were to leave after this season. This can please Amorim as he has prioritised improving his side’s attacking division.

This claim hasn’t been backed up or dismissed in England or Germany so far.
