On Monday, Palmeiras president Leila Pereira revealed that negotiations are ongoing with Manchester City after they tabled an official bid for Vitor Reis.
Leila Pereira also stated the bid didn’t meet the fee requested by the Brazilian club, who aren’t in a rush to sell the 19-year-old.
ESPN in Brazil say Palmeiras want to retain the player until the summer’s FIFA Club World Cup, while Pep Guardiola wants him in the winter market.
This could have one of the factors to convince Reis to leave his club in the winter market. The report states Manchester City have raised their proposal to €35m and have made advances in their negotiations with Palmeiras.
UOL also state there’s been a new development in the operation to take the defender to Manchester City in the ‘last few hours’.
It’s claimed Palmeiras have accepted the offer made by the Premier League winners for the centre-back. Manchester City’s bid is between €30m and 35m, and Reis should move to the Etihad ‘right now in January’.
Both ESPN and UOL state the South American club haven’t confirmed accepting the offer made by the Citizens.
