Manchester City are willing to spend more than €100m to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who report that Manchester City remain in the mix for the Leverkusen star despite him now having a verbal agreement with Bayern Munich.
FM report that Wirtz is currently ‘highly sought after’ by Europe’s biggest clubs, with him very much the new star of German football and one of the rising stars of Europe.
He has found himself in the sights of likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich for some time and it has been reported in Germany he is ready to leave Leverkusen at the end of the season.
His suitors are doing everything they can to attract him, and Manchester City are even willing to pay over €100m for his services.
They face big competition, though, particularly from Bayern Munich, who are openly courting him and have already reached a contract agreement with the 21-year-old. No details, i.e. salary or contract length, have been revealed as yet.
But it is a significant step forward for the German giants nonetheless and puts them ahead of Manchester City and Real Madrid at this moment in time.
Pep Guardiola’s side haven’t given up yet, though, and are willing to spend big to ensure that they remain in the race.
