İlkay Gündoğan’s contract situation at Manchester City hasn’t impacted his performances negatively as he’s starred for the Premier League leaders in recent weeks.

The midfielder has a deal expiring in June and the Citizens have so far offered him a one-year extension. At the same time, Barcelona are showing keen interest to sign him for free in the summer.

Ahead of the Champions League semi-final clash against Real Madrid, Cadena Ser, relayed by AS, state there could be changes at Manchester City after this season. They point out two of their key players, Gündoğan and Bernardo Silva, are ‘almost ready to leave’.

The 32-year-old German is looking for a new destination. He aspires to receive at least a two-year deal because he wants stability, especially after becoming a father earlier this year.

Pep Guardiola’s side have identified Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham as one of their main targets in the next window. Recent claims have said Real Madrid are ahead of them in the transfer race.

If they cannot sign Bellingham, the report states Manchester City will ‘make an effort’ to retain Gündoğan by offering him a new renewal offer.

More developments are expected in this case, especially with Barca keen to land him.
