Three days ago, Sport explained that João Cancelo’s agent Jorge Mendes has given assurances to Barcelona over bringing the Manchester City player to the Camp Nou in the summer.
The 28-year-old is currently on loan at Bayern Munich, who have an option to buy which they are unlikely to exercise.
A latest report from Sport echoes this when explaining the La Liga side’s desire to sign the Manchester City owned defender.
The Portugal international is set to return to Manchester, where Pep Guardiola ‘does not want him’ at the Etihad next season, as the manager considers him as ‘arrogant player’.
Therefore, Manchester City have informed his representatives they are ready to see him move to the Catalan club.
Over at Barcelona, they believe the former Valencia man is the cheapest option when compared to others like Villarreal’s Juan Foyth and Bayern’s Benjamin Pavard.
That’s because Xavi Hernández’s side are looking to take Cancelo on a loan deal, but the Premier League winners are only going to let him leave through a permanent transfer. In fact, Manchester City ‘will ask for €40m to get rid’ of him in the summer.
Barcelona must now decide whether to invest €40m on Cancelo to look at more options in the market.
