When the reporting on Manchester City interest in Tijjani Reijnders started to get serious in the Italian football media, it was suggested they’d just go straight in with an initial offer of more than €70m.

That certainly looked on the high side for the AC Milan, and didn’t make a great deal of sense. With the Rossoneri failing to qualify for the Champions League, they need a way to finance incoming transfer business this summer. That will involve selling at least one player, and the midfielder looks the prime candidate.

Sunday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport reports Manchester City are set to make an initial offer of €55m, with Milan hoping for that €70m figure. The Italian newspaper don’t say it outright, but it certainly sounds like Milan would be willing to bring their stance down from that €70m during negotiations once that first offer is made.

Therefore, there’s a distinct possibility the Premier League club could secure Tijjani Reijnders for less than €70m.
