Ederson has been the first-choice goalkeeper for Manchester City since he arrived at the club in 2017. He’s been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, forcing the Citizens to look for options in the market.
Manchester City are interested in Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
This is also backed up by Tuttosport, who provide more on the English club’s plan to sign him if Ederson were to leave the Etihad.
It’s claimed the 30-year-old Brazilian has a deal in place with Al-Nassr, who are working to find an agreement with the Premier League winners. There’s belief he would eventually end up in the Middle East this summer.
This has seen the English club identify Donnarumma as a target to replace Ederson, and they are ‘serious’ about the Italy international to replace the Brazilian.
The 25-year-old’s deal lasts until 2026 and prior to the Euros he held talks with PSG over extending the contract.
In theory, Donnarumma won’t be made available in the market. However, the report says the reality could be different, more so if Pep Guardiola’s side were to table a €60m bid.
He earns €10m per year and can improve his wages at the Etihad, if Guardiola’s side were to offer Ederson’s current annual salary of €12m.
At this moment in time, the Citizens have carried out a survey for the stopper and this hasn’t been converted into a concrete approach so far. The ‘next few weeks could indeed prove decisive’ if Ederson were to leave Manchester City.
Tuttosport say the Italian is ‘attracted and flattered by the charm’ of the Premier League. He could be open to the idea of moving to England, as long as his agent, Enzo Raiola, doesn’t use Manchester City’s interest to negotiate a renewal with PSG.
The latter suggestion seems the likely reason for these claims.
