This week has seen repeat reports from Italy on Manchester City attempts to sign Kalidou Koulibaly. The player’s agent, Fali Ramadani, reportedly travelled to Capri to meet Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Holidaying for the entire summer on the island, the Napoli president is said to have knocked back City’s latest offer of around €63m. Gazzetta dello Sport suggested earlier this week that €70m could be enough, whilst Naples newspaper Il Mattino insists De Laurentiis is still holding out for €90m, which seems completely unrealistic for a 29 year old defender.
Now there’s claims from FootMercato of a ‘salary agreement’ between the Premier League club and Koulibaly. It’s intriguing that these claims come from France, given that’s where the player was born, despite him representing Senegal at international level. Therefore, the assumption would be this is coming from a source close to the player.
The French report puts the City offer at €63m plus €10m in bonuses, and they believe Napoli want €70m plus the same bonuses.
Pep Guardiola is said to have spoken to Koulibaly on the telephone and ‘finally convinced’ the defender that Manchester City is the club for him.
