At this point, it seems more and more likely that Bernardo Silva will leave Manchester City at the end of the season.
The Portuguese player was already keen on an exit last summer, but with Barcelona unable to pay the amount desired by the Premier League side, he had to stay put.
Despite all this, he has remained an important part of Pep Guardiola’s plans at Manchester City, scoring two goals and assisting another five in 31 appearances in all competitions.
With a contract at the Etihad until 2025, next summer would be the ideal time for him to leave and allow his club to make a profit on the €50m they gave Monaco for his services back in 2017, and that’s where Paris Saint-Germain could come in.
Forced to be rather frugal in the January transfer window, the Ligue 1 side should be able to spend a bit more in the next transfer window, and Le10 Sport explain Silva ‘aspires to try a new challenge’.
They add that while he didn’t firmly push for an exit in 2022, he could be ‘much more’ insistent in the coming months, as his desire ‘to join a new club has grown’, and he now ‘more than ever’ wants to leave.
Paris Saint-Germain, at this stage, are ‘more than positioned’, and the Portugal international is a ‘priority’ not only for Luis Campos, but also for Kylian Mbappé, who played with him at Monaco.
With both the transfer guru, who lured him to the principality from Benfica, and the French star as ‘cornerstones’ of the Ligue 1 side’s project, the two are ‘clearly pushing’ to reunite with Silva.
One small danger for them, though, is the presence of Barcelona, as it is ‘very possible to see the Catalans provide competition’ for Paris Saint-Germain for the Manchester City star in the summer.
