It’s been nearly a couple of months since João Cancelo left Manchester City for Bayern Munich, and it seems the fullback is still to impress everyone at the Bundesliga side.
Some updates on the 28-year-old’s situation are brought by Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, who says there’s ‘no decision’ from the German club so far.
It’s said that Bayern Munich bosses, as well as manager Julian Nagelsmann, believe Cancelo has ‘more potential than he has shown so far’, so the player must ‘find his role’ before the end of the season.
The Manchester City loanee is said to be ‘open to stay’, but he should wait until the summer to see if the Bundesliga side will want to buy him.
It’s even confirmed that Barcelona made an enquiry about him, but with this undefined situation, it seems that possibility didn’t advance.
According to Plettenberg, the only guarantee is that Bayern Munich will not trigger the €70m buying option. It’s said that in case they choose to keep him, then they shall negotiate a price with Manchester City and ignore the clause agreed in the deal.
