Bernardo Silva’s desire to leave Manchester City and start a new adventure elsewhere has been known for quite a while.
The Portuguese international hasn’t been too shy to talk about it when given the chance, usually by his home country’s media. That was the case again recently, with Silva making it clear to Record that he fancies a new challenge for the rest of his career.
This has obviously only served to further encourage the Catalan media, who have been hoping the Manchester City player arrives at Barcelona.
Sunday’s edition of Sport says Silva is ‘looking for a change of scenery’, and Barcelona remain keen to sign him.
It’s stated they tried last summer but weren’t able to get a deal done because Frenkie de Jong refused to leave. They tried again in January, offering Manchester City a loan deal with a €70m option.
Pep Guardiola’s side weren’t interested.
Sport make it sound like Manchester City are getting a little fed up with the situation. According to the report, in a recent meeting between the club, Silva and agent Jorge Mendes, Txiki Begiristain said: “If you want to go, go!”
Mendes was then told to provide an offer worth €65m.
