Manchester City player flying ‘tonight’ to finalise transfer – Transfer on route to being done

Manchester City fullback João Cancelo is reportedly on the verge of leaving the club.

According to Jijantes in Spain, the 29-year-old has a flight to Barcelona scheduled for tonight.

Cancelo is expected to fly to Catalonia and close the transfer to the La Liga giants in the ‘coming days’.

Jijantes’ story doesn’t bring any more details on the deal between Manchester City and Barcelona, but from what has been reported in the past few days, we can have a pretty good idea of what’s on the table.

Last week, despite many reports claiming that the Camp Nou side would sign the fullback on a loan with a €25m option to buy, which would be obligatory under certain conditions, it was then said that the clause had been cancelled.

With Barcelona not willing to be tied to such clause, as they wanted to only make a decision about the investment at the end of the season, they negotiated the new terms with Manchester City. That’d be for a simple loan.

Now with the transfer now seeming closer, we should soon get to know whether that clause was kept or not.
