Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips has failed to have a prominent role since he arrived at the Etihad in 2022. He’s been restricted to 319 minutes of action from 10 games this season.
The England international isn’t pleased with his situation and wants to leave Manchester City, to enjoy more game time elsewhere, to make sure he goes to the Euros next summer.
On Wednesday, a claim from the United Kingdom said Barcelona could be an option for the midfielder. This is relayed by Sport, who then give their own take on the possibility of him arriving at the Camp Nou this month.
As of today, the Catalan club can’t register a new player and a potential deal for Phillips would be possible if there’s an exit or if they close the sale of Barça Studios.
The La Liga side want to take the former Leeds United man on a free loan deal and cover his wages. The treble winners aren’t considering this formula, as they are well aware the player has interest from other English clubs.
Sport state Phillips favours a move to Barcelona and is aware of their current situation.
Therefore, the Manchester City player is ‘delaying’ his transfer decision and will wait ‘until next week’ for Xavi Hernández’s side.
However, the Englishman won’t want to wait until the end of this window for Barcelona, as he will want to have found a new club before the madness begins.
