Napoli took Fabián Ruiz from Real Betis in 2018 and he started drawing attention from Manchester City a year later.
In December 2019, the Citizens reportedly knocked on the midfielder’s door for a possible transfer. A deal wasn’t concluded, but that didn’t stop the English champions from following him.
Pep Guardiola’s side are still in the mix to sign the former Real Betis man, if the latest reports coming out of Italy are to be believed.
Fabián will have a year left on his current deal at the end of the season and has shown no signs of committing his future to the Serie A side beyond June 2023.
“These are Fabian’s last two months at Napoli. In two months, an auction will be triggered around the Spaniard, it is inevitable. In April, he will be 26 years old. In a year, his [contract] will expire and there seems to be no possibility of renewal,” Giordano said.
“He wants to leave, the club has a duty to sell and whoever wants to buy, they have the right and the duty to believe in it and to come and make a serious offer.
“He will become the prized piece of the market if he scores another goal like that against Roma, which is part of the masterpieces, and the performances of the first four months of this season. Guardiola, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Newcastle and Arsenal like him.”
