Manchester City’s Kyle Walker has a ‘verbal agreement’ in place with Bayern Munich to join them this summer, but a deal is not yet close to being done.
That’s according to Sky Sports Germany, who say Walker would sign a deal until 2025, plus the option of a one-year extension, with the Bundesliga champions.
They explain that negotiations with Manchester City are now starting on a potential transfer deal for the defender, with no agreement in place between the clubs at this moment in time.
Bayern will push to sign him from Manchester City, though, as manager Thomas Tuchel is a big fan of the England international and wants to add him to his squad.
Indeed, such is the German’s fondness of the player he wants him signed regardless of whether Bayern sell Benjamin Pavard or Noussair Mazraoui this summer.
Tuchel sees him as the ‘optimal choice’ for the right side of his defence, particularly if he persists with a three at the back formation next season.
He and the club are hoping to sign Walker for a fee of €15m plus bonuses, although it remains to be seen what figure Manchester City come up with.
Either way, negotiations are now underway, and Walker appears to be edging closer to leaving the Etihad.
