Manchester City are ‘getting closer’ to a deal for RB Leipzig defender Joško Gvardiol, according to reports today.
Outlet CalcioMercato.it features a story claiming that even though the player ‘always dreams’ of Real Madrid, it’s actually Pep Guardiola’s side who may get his signing.
It’s claimed that Manchester City are ‘making great strides’ to get a deal done.
As a left-footed centre-back, Gvardiol is said to be exactly what ‘Guardiola needs’, and that’s why the club prepare to invest heavily on his transfer.
RB Leipzig are said to demand a total of €100m to complete the sale, so Manchester City better get prepared to spend that much.
Despite the player’s wish of joining Real Madrid, the website points out the club have already invested too much on the arrival of Jude Bellingham, and now need to afford a replacement for Karim Benzema.
That basically leaves them out of the race for Gvardiol, with Manchester City having more of an open track to land him, as long as they reach the price demanded by the Bundesliga side.
