While Manchester City continue their attempts to convince RB Leipzig of selling Josko Gvardiol, Pep Guardiola also has an eye on reinforcements further up the pitch.
The departure of Riyad Mahrez and potentially that of Bernardo Silva means there might be a need for a new forward this summer, with Lyon’s Bradley Barcola on the Spanish manager’s wishlist.
That’s according to Le Parisien, who have an article on the 20-year-old, who, as well as being a target for Manchester City, is one for Paris Saint-Germain.
He enjoyed something of a breakthrough season under Laurent Blanc during the last campaign, helping his side with five goals and nine assists in 26 league appearances.
That has clearly caught the eye of Manchester City, who are said to have ‘gathered information’ on the player.
However, it’s made clear that whoever wins the race will need to be ‘particularly convincing’, as Lyon don’t really have the intention of selling him.
That wasn’t part of their plans, but their financial situation, as they have been put under watch by the DNCG, could change that.
As for a valuation, it’s believed that he would cost around €40m, which could be enough to entice Lyon to sell and Manchester City to come forward.
