Over the past few months, claims from Italy have stated Manchester City have been following AC Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders.
The Dutch press has now joined in as De Telegraaf back up Manchester City’s desire to sign the 26-year-old.
They mention the Premier League club and Barcelona have ‘already expressed’ interest in the midfielder in a report that focuses on his renewal.
Reijnders’ contract lasts until 2028, and the report states he has agreed to extend it for two more years. The new contract will make him one of the top earners at the San Siro.
The Netherlands international arrived at the San Siro from AZ Alkmaar in July 2023 and impressed in his debut season.
His performances so far this season have convinced Milan to seek a quick agreement for his renewal. Reijnders managed 12 goals and three assists from 38 games this season for Milan.
De Telegraaf state the official announcement is expected to be made in March. Behind the scenes, Manchester City and Barcelona have already shown interest in the Dutchman.
There’s no release clause in the new contract, meaning the Italian club ‘can and will ask for the top price’ to sanction Reijnders’ sale, without mentioning any figures.
