Manchester City have again dropped their asking price for Joao Cancelo, with it now believed they’ll accept less than €20m just to get rid of the defender.
That’s according to Sport, who say Manchester City are almost inviting offers for the Portuguese full-back but are yet to get any bites from Barcelona.
The newspaper reports that Manchester City are trying to accelerate Cancelo’s departure from the club this summer so they can avoid him being a part of their pre-season schedule.
They’ve been offering the player to several teams and have now even lowered their demands once again in terms of his asking price.
The Premier League champions had started the summer asking for €30m but now there is a belief a deal can be done for less than €20m all in.
Barcelona, where he spent last season on loan, are yet to bite, even at the reduced fee. They are sticking to their guns and are only interested in a loan deal with a non-obligatory purchase option.
That’s opened the door for Juventus to make a move and they have ‘gone all in’ for him, hoping to convince the player and Manchester City into a deal.
They also want a loan; indeed, they want exactly the same as Barcelona, and reports in Italy have stated that they are considering taking the final steps on that front this week.
Their effort has caught Barcelona by surprise by they are confident that they have the player’s promise he only wants to play for them and can use that to their advantage. There is some fear, though, given Jorge Mendes is heavily involved and exerting his will on proceedings.
Cancelo, for his part, is in no rush to solve his future and believes that Manchester City will give in to what he wants in the end and let him return to Barcelona on loan.
