Earlier today, we covered claims from Italy that Inter Milan are set to face competition from Manchester City in the race for Club Brugge’s Tajon Buchanan.
The Nerazzurri want to sign the right-back on a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say the Serie A side need to rush because Manchester City could step in and ‘break the bank’ to sign him.
The Canada international’s contract lasts until 2025 and has decided against renewing the deal. This has seen the Jupiler Pro League side lower their request from €18m [last year] to €12m, which is deemed high by the Italian club.
Inter are looking for a loan deal with a mandatory purchase option of around €7-8m. This is likely to fall short and the report suggests a ‘min-relaunch’ is needed to get the deal over the line.
Simone Inzaghi’s side have to present a right offer to convince Club Brugge. They are aware the 24-year-old could leave and are looking to get the best deal possible for them.
Corriere warn Inter that if Manchester City were to ‘move concretely’, they could lose the battle.
Meanwhile, Het Laatste Nieuws explain that Buchanan is ‘on his way’ out of Club Brugge.
He was on the bench against KAA Gent last weekend and will ‘no longer’ be in the squad to face RWDM later today.
Club Brugge manager Ronny Deila was asked about the situation around the Canadian.
“I don’t know what’s happening around TJ. It’s beyond my control. He’s still here and that’s the most important thing now. He’s one of us,” he said.
