Manchester City are among the clubs chasing Boca Juniors’ Valentín Barco and this has been reported regularly in the Argentine media over the past two months.
On December 6th, Diario RN explained the Citizens are the ‘main candidate’ in the race to sign the 19-year-old.
Boca Noticias provide the latest on the player’s future and also discuss Manchester City’s desire to secure his services.
The Argentina U21 international is attracting interest from several European clubs and the report focuses on the treble winners. His deal expires in December 2024 and it includes a $10m [€9.1m] release clause.
It’s said Manchester City ‘once again arrive determined to execute’ the clause to take him away from Boca Juniors. Riquelme, on the other hand, would be keen to extend Barco’s contract.
Pep Guardiola’s side would have to compete with Brighton for the winger, who can also operate as a left wing-back and left-back. Boca Noticias add that these two clubs would be ‘willing to pay’ his clause.
Infobae also claim Barco’s future could be away from Boca Juniors and name Manchester City as one of the possible destiantions.
