Manchester City and Chelsea have taken steps to try and sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes in the summer window.
That’s according to Wednesday’s edition of Sport, and they report Manchester City and Chelsea have contacted the forward.
The Brazil international played close to 3,300 minutes from 50 games, managing 13 goals and 10 assists this season.
He hasn’t featured since the Copa del Rey final defeat to Barcelona on April 26th and prior to that, his minutes were reduced in the league.
The report states Rodrygo is impacted by Kylian Mbappé’s arrival as the coaching staff have singled him out in recent months. They add he doesn’t want to play under Carlo Ancelotti, who will leave Los Blancos soon.
Real Madrid have to appoint a new manager, who would make a decision on the 24-year-old’s future. He and his entourage, for now, are seriously considering leaving Real Madrid after this season.
Sport state Rodrygo has offers from the Premier League while unnamed clubs from Saudi Arabia are putting pressure on him. They haven’t specified which English clubs have sent proposals.
Chelsea and Manchester City have contacted him and are now ‘awaiting the player’s final decision’ on a transfer. The newspaper adds the right offer, without mentioning figures, could convince Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez.
The coming weeks will provide more clarity on whether the Brazilian genuinely wants to leave or to send a message to Real Madrid.
