Thiago Motta’s good season in charge of Bologna has been a reason for him to be linked a few European giants, including Liverpool and Juventus.
Following the recent rumours, the coach’s agent Alessandro Canovi was now interviewed by TMW Radio to talk about the future.
In quotes brought by Calcio Mercato, the agent acknowledged that Liverpool are one of the opportunities the manager could have this summer.
“The situation of the big names? The confirmation of Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen has opened up several important candidatures for Liverpool and Bayern Munich. And there’s Barcelona. They are three interesting and very coveted benches right now.”
The agent, however, made it clear that Motta is still not concerned about his new job.
“At the moment the only fact is that Motta has an expiring contract with Bologna. Will he stay at Bologna? I can’t say, because I have no negotiations with anyone. You can’t talk about things that aren’t in place.”
Bologna are currently fourth in Serie A, just two points behind Juventus, and that’s the big reason why there’s some noise in the local media about where he can land next.
Since Jurgen Klopp’s departure was announced, several coaches have been linked to his job, and Motta is one of those names.
It’s still to be seen whether Liverpool are serious about the Bologna coach, though, with the European media recently insisting in their interest in Sporting’s Ruben Amorim as well.
Now it’s definitely interesting to see Motta’s agent admitting that the Reds’ job is attractive, especially given the manager’s contract expires at the end of the season.
