Jhon Durán’s transfer from Aston Villa to Chelsea is now on ‘stand by’, according to claims from South America.
Colombian journalist Guillermo Arango today writes on Twitter that new manager Enzo Maresca is the one putting some brakes on the move at this stage.
It’s claimed that the Chelsea boss would like to sign a forward with ‘other characteristics’, and Durán’s arrival is put on hold for now.
That means Aston Villa can probably negotiate with other clubs who’ve been interested in the player, with the story pointing out that AC Milan and Bologna are in the mix.
Durán had eight goals in 37 appearances for the Villans this season. He’s currently with the Colombian national team at the Copa América.
This week, he was asked by his home country’s media about a potential switch to Italy, and claimed he doesn’t know what will happen to him in the summer.
Chelsea’s presence in the race for him would surely help Aston Villa get a better fee for the transfer, and we should now wait and see what the Italian clubs have to offer.
