Nuno Espírito Santo’s short spell as Tottenham Hotspur manager came to an end earlier this month, days after the north London club suffered a 3-0 defeat to Manchester United.
Antonio Conte was appointed as Nuno’s successor and the Italian has already been in charge of two fixtures so far.
Spurs looked at Conte before appointing the former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager back in June, but he refused to join them, only for him to change his stance a week ago.
Conte was not the only candidate the Premier League side wanted in the summer. There were claims Tottenham showed interest in Sevilla manager Julen Lopetegui.
Earlier reports from June indicated that Daniel Levy ‘went all out’ for the Spaniard and was willing to offer him ‘the best salary he can earn in his career’.
Lopetegui has given an interview to AS, and he was asked about Tottenham’s interest in the summer.
Responding to that, Lopetegui said: “That is history. There were options to be able to take other paths but I am happy at Sevilla.
“Training in the Premier League? One learns to live in the present and the future does not exist, God will say. I put all my passion and energy into this profession, without making more plans.”
