Olivier Boscagli’s desire to join Brighton & Hove Albion this summer had been repeatedly reported in the Dutch media.
There’s no shock around that, with the Seagulls seen as an attractive club for the PSV player to move to. There’s a clear financial benefit there for the defender and also the chance to test himself in the Premier League.
However, Brighton haven’t yet managed to please the Eindhoven club with a financial offer, indeed it doesn’t look like they’ve even come close at this moment in time.
Therefore, Boscagli will continue to train and play, with there no indication that he’s going to withdraw his labour to try and force a move.
PSV manager Peter Bosz had a pre-match press conference on Friday, ahead of the game against Almere City. He spoke about goalkeeper Walter Benitez, who is of interest to Atletico Madrid, and Boscagli.
Voetbal International quote him as saying: “Benitez and Boscagli find it difficult, they want to make a move. But if the club still says no, then they will stay here. So they can and will play.”
Bosz is keeping up communication with the pair, and went on to say: “You try to stay in touch, but you notice that the same thing is said over and over again. It’s a theme, certainly for the boys, also for the rest of the team and yes, also for me. But we have to win the match tomorrow.”
Maybe after that match, Brighton and Atletico can step up their efforts.
